WW2 leather Artillery shell Case No. 57 III CAN. V. T. & B. Ltd. 4 1942

4-1942 dated WWII thick leather artillery shell case that has been adapted as a lamp a long time ago... Also a "V" incised on the front. Retains thick leather handle and leather strap that latches onto a brass stud.

There side missing two rivets. Top leather disc is starting to lift from substructure. Original cap included (has been adapted to be a lamp with single hole through top center for lamp stem). Wood disc base added for lamp. Could be rewired and used as a lamp or remove cap to use as umbrella stand. Leather section itself is 24" tall x 6.5" diameter. 29 tall to base of socket. Considering age and likely condition of use.
