Vintage 1970's BROWNE & PHARR Two-Blade Swayback Knife Rare & Leather Case
BROWNE & PHARR MAKERS ATLANTA GA is the tang stamp. Browne & Pharr was a small semi-custom knife maker, only in business from about 1973 until 1982. They had some revolutionary designs for slipjoint pocket knives. Each pocket knife was designed with screws rather than pins, so that a used could disassemble and reassemble the knife. This is a two-blade model, 3-3/8 closed, unusual swayback design that fits the hand well. Stainless steel bolsters, brass liners. Both blades have strong snap, half stops, tight no wobble. The blade steel is carbon tool steel. Hardwood handles have great color, no cracks or damage. This knife was used and carried a bit, does not appear to have ever been sharpened. Note: These knives were made with an "as-ground" blade finish, not a mirror polish. The blades are each full. Some light scratches, rub marks on the bolsters. Includes the high-quality leather case that was made just for this pattern.
The case can be used as a "pocket slip" or as a belt sheath. The knife shown in the photos is the exact knife that you will receive. See my other listings for more collectible knives.
Any knives listed as having BONE handles have handles made of Bovine bone from the South American Zebu cattle.
