Superb Antique Victorian Brushed Silk Top Hat in Original Leather Hat Box Case

Victorian Top Hat in Leather Box. A good example of an original Victorian brushed silk Top Hat with felt band dating from the late 1800s. The hat is lined with a leather band and is marked with the maker's name E. The hat is in good condition and displays beautifully.

There are some minor signs of age and use - a small area of wear on the underside of the rim (see photo) and the stitching on the inner leather band has come away in places (see photo). The inner circumference is approx 21 1/4 / 54cm which translates as a size 6 5/8. The hat comes in its original leather carrying case with red velvet lined interiors and strap for securing the hat.

It is in very good condition with some signs of age and use, some minor scuffs and marks but nothing detrimental. We do not have a key and the leather strap that would go all the way around the outside is missing.
