Saracione- Joe 4 1/2 Deluxe Steelhead/Salmon Reel. Steelhead/Salmon Reel (serial #404) made in 1990's with multi-piece aluminum and bronze assembled spools; the spool, foot(with VH hole) and serpentine handle are aluminum alloy; The entire reel is hand polished. These reels were the first to feature the now time-proven rotor and caliper disc drag system, utilizing oil impregnated cork calipers and a floating rotor disc for an ultra smooth drag. Drag adjustments are set via lever control with 9-detent settings. Additionally, the reel has a preset gear and pawl drag for controlling spool overrun, when light disc drag settings are made.

Deluxe design disc drag reels have been in service since the 1990's worldwide, performing on steelhead rivers of the Pacific Northwest to Atlantic salmon rivers in eastern Canada, Iceland, Russia, and Norway. The reel comes with its original, handcrafted, fitted hard leather case, made exclusively for Joe by Arne Mason of Ashland, Oregon. I bought this directly from Joe Saracione.
