Something very special for the collector of rare, vintage Omega timepieces. An original 14 kt rose gold Omega "1915 Petrograd".So there's no misunderstanding, this particular wristwatch is a genuine vintage / antique Omega "1915 Petrograd". It was made in the late 1920's /1930. It is NOT one of the recent Omega Museum Collection (not so accurate) re-issue examples.
The original design was produced by Omega at a time when they were experimenting with different case styles. The barrel shaped , "Tonneau" style was used for this very limited series of timepieces. In 1915, Omega presented the original example to Czar Nicholas II. Other examples were said to have given to members of the Russian Royal Family. One was gifted by the Czar to the Major General of Petrograd (now St Petersburg), Russia. These wonderful 14 kt rose gold Tonneau styled watches were produced in very limited numbers and most were for the Russian market. These examples are characterized by the unique 12 / 24 hour dial. This particular example is from 1929 / 1930 and is in really excellent overall condition. Considering the age, this particular example has obviously been well cared for over the years.
It presently is running well and keeps very good time. You must remember this is a vintage / antique timepiece with a manual wind movement. Being nearly a 100 years old, it's functioning amazingly well but it's accuracy likely won't be that of a modern day quartz movement watch.
I believe the dial to be the original and it too, is in excellent condition. I will do my best to carefully package this watch so it will travel safely. The item "OMEGA 1915 PETROGRAD.
