Antique WWI Imperial German Officer Pickelhaube Leather Helmet withTransport Case
Straight from the estate of a well-known military antique collector which includes over 30 helmets and pickelhaubes from pre-WW1 and WW2 era that will be listed on my page in the near future (pictures available upon request). Anything mentioned herein is simply my uneducated opinion.
This appears to be a pretty rare officers helmet with the stars on top and the transport case included. This particular helmet is in great shape overall with no major signs of trauma or visible damage.
It appears to be structurally sound and straight. The outer leather shows some crazing in areas but no big chunks missing anywhere.
The chinstrap is fully intact and in great condition. The inner liner is in great shape and shows very little signs of wear.
Metal parts show no signs of damage and only minimal oxidization from age. Imprinted on the button under the rear metal post. The transport case is missing the inside and outside lock straps and shows signs of aging on the outside including some small chunks missing from the leather layer, but the inner cloth liner is still nice and fully intact. This is a larger transport case standing in at 14" tall, 13" long and 11 1/2 wide. This does not appear to be a reproduction but its authenticity cannot be guaranteed.
