Beautiful antique gentleman's black silk plush top hat and satin lined leather carrying case. The hat is marked Macullar Parker Company, 400 Washington Street, Boston inside the white satin with the company logo.

A previous owner inscribed a "W" there as well. Also "Weld" is handwritten on inside band. The exterior of the hat is in perfect condition. There is thumb wear on the underside brim where one would place one's thumb to remove the hat from one's head. Height of hat above brim is 5.5" on sides and 5.75 " on front and back; brim is 1.75 wide.

It is difficult to estimate the size of the hat. I wear 7 1/8 oval, and this hat is slightly small on me. It measures 11 circumference on the outside.

So I would subtract a bit to judge the inside. The hat-shaped leather case for storage and transport, is lined in red silk, has padded brim support, and a leather strap and buckle to secure your hat. The exterior of the case measures 14 by 12 across the top and stands 9.25 inches high. The top handle is solidly secured to the case and shows slight wear to the leather finish.

There is a small section of leather missing along the top rim. The buckles and straps are intact. There is no key to the lock. The bottom of the hat box is monogrammed W.

I've tried to capture all of this in photographs. This is truly a spectacular piece for any collector, steam punk enthusiast, or Dickens aficionado!
