It has been packaged up in plastic for years and I inherited it after his death. The leather case is in just about the same condition as when I first saw it except when I opened it the little snap closure piece came off. It was stitched on and evidently the thread just deteriorated. Like most German products, the leather is an excellent grade and the strap could be sewed right back on in the same holes that are already there.
There is one small matter. When I was seeing if the camera still worked as far as the springs and mechanisms I accidentally removed the little knob on top of the photo indicator dial. Marked in red on one of the photos. It is not broken, just removed.
