Rare Pair Of 18th Century German Enameled Buttons In Original Leather Case
VERY RARE PAIR OF 18TH CENTURY GERMAN ENAMELED BUTTONS IN ORIGINAL LEATHER PRESENTATION CASE. HELLO , THIS LISTING IS FOR AN EXCEPTIONAL PAIR OF VERY RARE 18TH CENTURY GERMAN ENAMELED BUTTONS IN THEIR ORIGINAL LEATHER PRESENTATION CASE. THESE GORGEOUS BUTTONS WERE PART OF A LARGE COLLECTION OF BUTTONS OWNED BY MY GREAT AUNT WHO WAS A VERY SERIOUS COLLECTOR IN THE 1930'S AND 40'S. HER BUTTONS WERE FEATURED IN BUTTON BOOKS AND WON 1ST PLACE NUMEROUS TIMES WHEN ENTERED IN SHOWS. THE CATALOG DESCRIPTION WAS SAVED AND IS SEEN IN THE PHOTO PROVIDED. IT WAS LOT NUMBER 409. PAIR OF GERMAN ENAMELED BUTTONS , LATE 18TH CENTURY IN ROMAN NUMERALS.

THEIR DESCRIPTION READS AS FOLLOWS : "CIRCULAR WITH SILVER MOUNTS , PAINTED WITH MYTHOLOGICAL FIGURES IN BRILLIANT COLORS , FITTED IN ORIGINAL LEATHER CASE ". THERE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION WITH NO DAMAGE OR REPAIRS. THEY MEASURE JUST UNDER 1 1 / 4 INCH IN DIAMETER.

THE BACKS AS SEEN IN THE PHOTOS ARE DECORATED AS WELL. THERE IS A WHITE SPOT ON THE BACK OF EACH BUTTON THAT I DONT KNOW FOR SURE HOW IT WAS CREATED , BUT I CAN ASSUME IT MAY BE FROM THE BACKS RESTING AGAINST THE KILN SERVICE WHEN THEY WERE FIRED. THE FRONTS ARE IN PERFECT CONDITION. THE LEATHER CASE AS SEEN IN THE PHOTO HAS A LOT A WARE TO IT , THE LEATHER IS VERY DRY FROM AGE AND THE TOP IS SLIGHTLY LOOSE. IT STILL RETAINS ITS ORIGINAL ROYAL WAX SEAL. TO FIND A PAIR OF BUTTONS IN THEIR ORIGINAL PRESENTATION CASE IS VERY RARE AND THE FACT THEY HAVE NOT BEEN SEPARATED OVER THE YEARS IS AMAZING.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE PARKE - BERNET CATALOG PICTURED IS JUST TO SUBSTANTIATE PROVENANCE , AND NOT INCLUDED WITH THE SALE. THE ORIGINAL CUT OUT CATALOG DESCRIPTION IS INCLUDED.

A GREAT ADDITION TO ANY SERIOUS COLLECTION. My personal standards are high , so I strive to research , describe and picture all items in my auctions as accurately as possible.

Most items are vintage or antique and therefore normal ware from age and use is to be expected. If any imperfections or damage is present other than normal ware , it will be mentioned and pictured in the listing.

All items are carefully and thoughtfully packed to ensure safe arrival. Thank you , and great luck to all.
